We're excited to welcome Utah calligrapher and educator Melissa Esplin to The Needlepoint Shoppe this July for an introduction to modern calligraphy!

Whether you've always admired beautiful hand lettering or are looking for a new creative outlet, this beginner-friendly workshop will guide you through the fundamentals of modern calligraphy using pointed-pen techniques. Melissa has been teaching calligraphy for more than a decade and is known for making the art approachable, fun, and achievable for all skill levels.

Students should bring the supplies listed in Melissa's recommended class kit, which includes:

• Rhodia practice pad
• Four calligraphy nibs (Hunt 22, Hunt 101, Gillott 303, Gillott 404)
• Straight and oblique pen holders
• Walnut ink
• Pen wipe
• Ink bottle
• Mechanical pencil
• Lettering guides
